Hohenheim remains at the top: Germany's best agricultural university in the NTU ranking!

The University of Hohenheim has the current one NTU Ranking 2025, published on September 10, 2025, once again demonstrated its position as a leading university in the field of agricultural sciences. The university takes second place in Germany with a score of 44.0, while the Technical University of Munich, which holds first place with 44.3 points, is in the lead. Hohenheim is ranked 18th in Europe and 61st worldwide. These rankings are particularly noteworthy as Hohenheim has consistently been at the top of the rankings since 2014.

In the NTU ranking, international scientific publications are evaluated according to various criteria: research productivity, research influence and research excellence. A total of 2,025 universities worldwide were included in the assessment.

Long-term collaborations and research strength

The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Hohenheim includes areas such as food science, horticulture as well as nutritional science and dietetics. The university is characterized by many years of international cooperation, including close cooperation with Wageningen University in the Netherlands, which is number one in Europe. Hohenheim is also a member of the Euroleague for Life Sciences (ELLS), which brings together leading universities in this field.

Despite these challenges, the NTU ranking certifies that the University of Hohenheim has the highest level of research in German agricultural research and in the field of food sciences for the eleventh time in a row German dairy newspaper reported.

The current U.S. News and World ranking “Best Global Universities for Agriculture Science in Germany 2024” leads the University of Göttingen with 66.7 total points, followed by the Technical University of Munich with 65.8 points and the University of Hohenheim in third place with 63.4 points. These rankings illustrate the competitiveness of German universities in an international comparison, but also represent the challenges that universities have to face in research in order to maintain and expand their position.
