PHKA shines in the ranking: Top offer for further training starts in May!

On April 7, 2025, the Karlsruhe University of Education (PHKA) was honored in two important categories in the nationwide ranking “Best Universities for Further Education 2025”. In the categories “Further training in pedagogy, social affairs, nursing” and “Further training for teaching staff”, PHKA achieved a place in the top ten. These awards underline the quality and relevance of the continuing education programs offered.

A special highlight is the university’s latest part-time training program: “Learning and working in the exchange of generations”. This program starts in May 2025 and aims to promote the exchange of knowledge, experiences and skills between young and old. The offer is aimed specifically at people in the education sector, in companies, in personnel development, administration, social advice and neighborhood work.

Details about the training offer

Those interested can apply for the program until April 25, 2025. The prerequisite for participation is a completed university degree and at least one year of professional experience. After successful completion of the program, a university certificate is awarded. In addition to this new offer, PHKA also offers many other continuing education formats, including Certificates of Advanced Studies and part-time master's programs.

The PHKA supports its students and those interested in further education with a library that covers over 2,000 m². This is centrally located on campus and offers various usage options, ranging from quiet work in the reading room to collaborative learning in seating niches and group study rooms. The library's holdings include a total of 215,000 printed books and magazines as well as 40,000 e-books and 250 printed and 20,000 electronic magazines. The focus of the offer is on the areas of pedagogy, psychology and didactics of all school subjects.

Innovative learning environments

PHKA creates a diverse learning landscape with modern services. This includes, among other things, spacious learning rooms, active reading with desk bikes and height-adjustable chairs, as well as the provision of WiFi and power sockets. Scanners and copiers are also available. Short lectures on mental stimulation as well as training on research and literature management programs round off the offer. Individual advice on literature searches and final thesis is also offered.

This comprehensive range of further training opportunities and the awards in the ranking make the Karlsruhe University of Education an outstanding address for anyone who wants to expand their knowledge and develop professionally. How DAAD reports, the PHKA is positioning itself as one of the leading institutions in Germany in further education.
