Open Day: Discover the wonders of the University of Hohenheim!
The University of Hohenheim invites you to the event on Saturday, July 5, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 5:30 p.m Open House a. Against the picturesque backdrop of Hohenheim Castle, a varied program is offered that is open not only to prospective students, but also to families. The event promises exciting insights into the world of agricultural sciences and related disciplines.
Visitors can take part in a variety of program items, including fascinating experiments and inspiring lectures. A special highlight is the open-air concert in the castle park, which rounds off the day musically. Here it will Concert Band of the University of Hohenheim provide entertainment together with the Big Band from the University of Media.
Diverse program items and sustainability
Another aspect of the ecological balance is the nutritional course. Here visitors can try innovative foods such as pastries made from insect meal and microalgae. In addition, various culinary stands with international delicacies await guests. With a new waste concept, the event is designated as a “Green Event BW”: disposable tableware made from organic material is converted into biochar.
The event program also includes interactive games and a children's program. A barefoot path, a smoothie bike and an egg obstacle course keep the little ones entertained. Creative stations such as crafts and face painting round off the program, as well as a conversation with a re-enacted Queen Olga.
Bonus events on Friday and other days
The previous day, Friday, July 4, 2025, will be celebrated as Dies academicus with an academic ceremony and award ceremonies, followed by a summer party. The open day program also includes tours of the medicinal plant garden and the collection greenhouse as well as visits to the cows at the experimental station.
With this event, the University of Hohenheim not only wants to provide an insight into its study offerings, but also present and promote sustainable practices so that visitors receive a comprehensive picture of modern agricultural sciences.
Additionally, as part of the Eco Action Weeks Baden-Württemberg From September 8th to October 26th, 2025, further events will take place that deal with various ecological topics, but also point out the sustainability goals of the University of Hohenheim.
