The University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart announced today, July 3, 2025, that it is introducing a flexible part-time model in four of its degree programs. This innovative offer is intended to help students better adapt their studies to their personal life situations. The new part-time options are available in the Bachelor's degree programs in Agricultural Sciences and Renewable Resources & Bioenergy and in the Master's degree programs in Agribusiness and Organic Agriculture & Food Systems (Single Degree). A key advantage of this part-time course of study is that only one regular semester counts for two part-time semesters. In addition, the maximum workload during a part-time semester is 18 ECTS credits. It is important to note that part-time study is not a separate course, but a flexible option within existing programs. Students who are already enrolled also have the opportunity to benefit from this new option. Applications for part-time study can be made online, including within the first few weeks of classes starting, and information on deadlines is available on the university website.
Course offerings and focus areas
The Bachelor in Agricultural Sciences, which is offered as one of the core courses at Hohenheim, allows admissions in both summer and winter. As part of this degree program, students have the opportunity to concentrate on various areas of focus such as tropical agricultural systems, agricultural engineering, soil sciences and many others. The aim is to develop solutions for sustainable, ecological and socially acceptable food production.
