Musical premiere in Neuburg: The journey of the companions inspires!

On April 1, 2025, viewers can look forward to a very special project: the musical “The Journey of the Companions”. Around 70 participants, including students from the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (KU) and 15 children from surrounding schools, worked together on this interesting piece. Schools involved in this project include the Adelschlag elementary school, the Maria-Ward Realschule Neuburg and the Gabrieli-Gymnasium Eichstätt.

The musical plot is by Andreas Kehr, senior academic advisor at the KU and composer, whose previous production, the musical “The Baroness”, was already well received in the KU auditorium. “The Journey of the Companions” focuses on the beautiful and challenging sides of life and tells the story of the protagonist Lif, who as a child loses her parents in a conflict over a magical land and grows up with her grandmother.

The plot of the musical

Under her grandmother's care, Lif learns to communicate with nature. Her boyfriend finds security with her and her grandmother, but one day he has to move away. After her grandmother's death, Lif embarks on a moving journey to her roots. She experiences numerous ups and downs, encounters light and shadow and finds support in a young man who gives her hope. As the journey progresses, old conflicts resurface and she meets her childhood friend, which presents her with a difficult decision.

Performance dates and commitment

The premiere of the musical will take place on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 7 p.m. in the Stadttheater Neuburg an der Donau, Residenzstraße 66. Due to the great interest, further performances are already planned for May 17th (7 p.m., sold out), May 18th (5 p.m.), May 23rd (7 p.m.), May 24th (7 p.m.) and May 25th (5 p.m.). Admission is free, but donations are requested, which will go to the Elisa e.V. family aftercare association in Neuburg and to the Caritas Children's Village Marienstein near Eichstätt.

In addition, the project is part of the work of Dialog Theater e.V., which focuses on promoting and communicating art and culture. The association works in an integrative and theater-educational manner with different target groups and is planning further artistic projects on stage.

“The Journey of the Companions” is also an excellent opportunity for young talents to develop their creativity and be on stage together, which promotes team spirit and cultural togetherness. The focus on supporting children and families in the region makes the project not only an exciting theater experience, but also a commitment to social goals.
