Discover the wonders of science: Long Night in Berlin!
On June 28, 2025, the Long Night of Science in Berlin will once again attract numerous visitors. This year the event celebrates its 25th anniversary. The Humboldt University of Berlin (HU) is taking part in the celebratory Night of Science with almost 200 projects and is offering a diverse program.
The event will take place from 5 p.m. to midnight at several locations, including the campus in Berlin-Mitte, Dahlem, Adlershof, the Späth Arboretum and the Mori Ôgai Memorial. At these locations, visitors can expect a comprehensive range of offerings, ranging from experiments to lectures and guided tours. Special offers are also planned for children in order to inspire the youngest science enthusiasts.
Diverse programs and activities
The program includes a variety of activities, including mini language courses in languages such as Icelandic and Dari, as well as insights into various subject areas such as antiquity, archeology and artificial intelligence. A highlight will be the Späth Arboretum, where guided tours and lectures are offered and there is even the opportunity to sponsor a plant.
New this year is the opening of the Holy Spirit Chapel. Lectures and tours will take place here, followed by a medieval concert at 10:15 p.m. The Adlershof auditorium cinema in the Lise Meitner House is also showing a sci-fi film.
Insights into current research projects
Participants can look forward to exciting projects. These include lectures on climate-stable wine varieties in the context of viticulture in Brandenburg, as well as experiments for children aged 12 and over that deal with oceans in beakers. Robot presentations at RoboCup and discussions about the unconscious in psychoanalysis are also part of the program.
Another highlight is the musical journey through the Middle Ages. The CELESTIEL ensemble will perform music from the 9th to 14th centuries. The project in the greenhouse offers insight into plant research and sustainable horticulture.
Practical information about the event
The event is supported by around 50 scientific and science-related institutions in Berlin. This also includes partners from the region, such as the Berlin Partner for Business and Technology GmbH and the Berlin Technology Foundation. The use of these institutions aims to give visitors a unique insight behind the scenes of science.
Tickets for the Long Night of Sciences are available both online and at the box office and cost 5 euros. Further information, including the detailed program, can be found on the Humboldt University of Berlin as well as about the Event page of the Long Night of Sciences and Science communication.
