Free University of Berlin: Germany's educational talent in the QS ranking!

On March 12, 2025, the Free University of Berlin (FU) announced its outstanding placement in the QS World University Ranking by Subject 2025. The university ranks second in Germany in the “Arts & Humanities” subject group and ranks 38th worldwide in this category. These successes underline the FU's position as a leading educational institution in the German higher education system.

The FU has already asserted itself as one of the four best universities in Germany in the overall QS ranking in 2024. In the new QS ranking 2025, it ranked among the TOP 100 worldwide in 19 of 31 ranked subjects. Particularly notable placements show the FU's strength in the humanities and social sciences.

The FU achieves top rankings particularly in the subjects “Archaeology”, “Classics & Ancient History” and “Communication & Media Studies”:
