Free University of Berlin: Guest auditor studies start with new models!
On March 25, 2025, the Free University of Berlin announced that its continuing education offering for guest auditors will in future be known as the guest auditor program. This renaming aims to emphasize the academic character of the courses more clearly and to better integrate them into the university's profile. From the coming summer semester, those interested will have the opportunity to take part in various courses as guest auditors, regardless of their educational qualifications.
With the introduction of guest auditor studies, there are two flexible models to choose from. The Classic guest auditor course provides access to the regular course offerings for 160 euros per semester. This model also offers discounts for foreign language courses and university sports. The guest listening course Art, on the other hand, allows access to individually bookable face-to-face events and online courses in the Digital Lecture Worlds, which include up to 130 teaching hours and can be booked every semester. Loud FU Berlin Guest auditors also receive reduced admission prices to various Berlin cultural institutions, such as the Berlinische Galerie and the Bröhan Museum.
Special offers for students
There is also a special offer for students in grades 10 to 13: They can take part in courses in all subject areas free of charge in order to gain valuable insights into their studies. This initiative is aimed at young people who would like to engage with academic topics at an early stage and offer the Free University of Berlin an opportunity to promote cultural exchange and academic education.
The guest listening course includes a wide range of lectures in various subject areas. Those interested can attend lectures in disciplines such as physics, philosophy and art history. In addition, access to the guest auditor program is also possible without a high school diploma, as is the case FU Berlin reported. This helps expand access to university education and appeal to a wider audience seeking opportunities for personal and intellectual development.
The Classic and Art guest listening courses not only offer the opportunity to take part in regular lectures, but also the opportunity to delve deeper into specific topics and disciplines. These new formats are designed to meet the needs of both working professionals and retirees who want to maintain their intellectual training during and after their professional careers.
In today's world, when lifelong learning is becoming increasingly important, the Free University of Berlin is offering an attractive program with its new guest lecturer program that enables people of different ages to further their academic education and discover new interests. This not only strengthens Berlin as an educational location, but also promotes cultural participation for all citizens.
