A new wind at the HU: matriculation celebration in the Humboldt Forum was enthusiastic!

The Humboldt University of Berlin (HU) warmly welcomes new students on October 13, 2025. The matriculation ceremony takes place in the renowned Humboldt Forum. It starts with an information market and free short tours from 2:00 p.m., before the official celebration begins at 4:00 p.m., at which the President of the HU, Prof. Dr. Julia von Blumenthal, speaks to the new students. This is reported by the Humboldt University.

The celebrations in the Schlüterhof offer a varied program. In addition to musical performances by the HU chamber choir and the beatboxer Mando Beatbox, speeches from the student representatives are also planned. A highlight will be the interview with Prof. Dr. Hartmut Dorgerloh, the general director of the Humboldt Forum. A scientific team from the Aldershofer Campus will also present football-playing robots.

Information market and guided tours

From 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., new students have the opportunity to take part in an information market. Here you can find comprehensive information about a wide range of support offers. At the same time, free short tours are offered in the Humboldt Forum, each lasting 30 minutes. These lead to various exciting exhibitions, including:

  • 14:40 Uhr: „Koloniale Gegenwart“ (Ethnologische Sammlung)
  • 14:50 Uhr: „Nach der Natur“ (Humboldt Labor)
  • 15:00 Uhr: „Hin und Weg. Der Palast der Republik ist Gegenwart“ (Sonderausstellung)
  • 15:10 Uhr: „BERLIN GLOBAL in 30 Minuten“ (BERLIN GLOBAL)
  • 15:20 Uhr: „Jenseits der Norm? Ein queerer Blick auf Geschlechter und Sexualitäten“ (Ethnologische Sammlung)

The tours begin at meeting point “E” at the “Mechanical Arena” in the main hall of the Humboldt Forum. Participants are asked to leave their jackets and bags at the cloakroom to ensure everything runs smoothly. Accessibility will be ensured throughout the event and sign and written interpreters will be available.

Ceremonial enrollment and conclusion

The ceremonial enrollment begins at 4:00 p.m. in Hall 1 of the Humboldt Forum. In addition to the president and the student representatives, student Olympians will also have their say. The entire event will be broadcast live on the HU YouTube channel and on screens in the Schlüterhof in order to enable the broadest possible participation.

After the official celebration, everyone is invited to celebrate together at the convivial finale in the Schlüterhof. The culinary offerings include a varied selection of food and drinks, with a free drink available.
