Wahl-O-Mat 2025: This is how it influences voter decisions in Germany!
On March 9, 2025, political scientists from the Free University of Berlin launched a digital survey on the impact of portals such as “Wahl-O-Mat” as well as general election surveys. This survey, which is conducted anonymously and free of charge, allows participants to provide their feedback until February 23, 2025. The aim of the survey is to gain a better understanding of how voters make decisions shortly before the upcoming federal election.
The survey, which takes around 10 to 15 minutes, is conducted by the “Political Sociology of the Federal Republic of Germany” department under the direction of Prof. Dr. Thorsten Faas organized. Those interested can complete the survey via the website www.wahlumfrage2025.de Fill out the form and receive the results of the evaluation if you wish. Wahl-O-Mat for the 2025 federal election
In addition to the survey, the Federal Agency for Civic Education (bpb) The “Wahl-O-Mat” for the 2025 federal election was published on February 6, 2025. This platform offers interactive access to 38 theses that help voters better understand the parties' election programs. The parties' answers and justifications are provided through careful editing, in which 36 experts from science and political education as well as young voters were involved.
When the Wahl-O-Mat was published, a press conference was held in Berlin, attended by top politicians from the eight parties that have been represented in the Bundestag since the 2021 federal election. Since its launch in 2002, the platform has emerged as an essential political guidance tool, particularly for young voters. Since then, the Wahl-O-Mat has been used over 130 million times.
Voter turnout and coalition scenarios in Rhineland-Palatinate
Another aspect that is becoming increasingly important in the run-up to the elections are the possible government coalitions in Rhineland-Palatinate, as shown on dawum.de is analyzed. Coalitions with at least 101 seats in the state parliament are considered, although those with more than 41 but fewer than 51 mandates are also included in the assessment. The coalition of SPD, FDP and Alliance 90/The Greens is currently in power, but it no longer has a majority.
The analysis shows that there could theoretically be changes in the distribution of seats if smaller parties succeed in exceeding the five percent hurdle. These dynamics in the coalition negotiations and the political framework are crucial for voters, especially in election years like 2025, which could represent a significant turning point in the political landscape.
