Young actors are thrilled in Salzburg: Creativity without limits!
The 2025 Drama School Meeting, which will take place from June 22nd to 29th at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, is an important event to promote young talent in the performing arts. In this context, acting students from several German-speaking universities will present their work in non-public performances and exchange ideas about current topics in the performing arts. The event is organized by the European Theater Academy GmbH “Konrad Ekhof” in Hamburg and is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of the Federal Republic of Germany filmuniversitaet.de reported.
An outstanding event at this year's meeting was the participation of the film university students with their production “CAN WE TALK ABOUT THIS”. This work, a collage of various scenes, was conceived under the direction of Lara Martelli-Hisleiter, Ulrich Huhn, Anna Barbara Kurek and Florian Hertweck. The students received the Ensemble Prize for their outstanding performance, which underlines the high quality of their performance. The piece addressed central questions about power, control and vulnerability, inspired by journalistic texts and socially critical works such as “The Politicians” by Wolfram Lotz.
The program and the variety of topics
During the 2025 drama school meeting, participants will take a closer look at the social and artistic mechanisms of theater in several discussion rounds and workshops. These include questions about the manifestation of power and control in contrast to vulnerability and sensuality in the body, as well as the influence of movement on social and personal mechanisms. The festival thus offers a space for creative discussions and promotes the development of artistic identities, confirmed hfmdk-frankfurt.de.
The Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts (HfMDK) hosted the 2024 acting school meeting and worked closely with the SKS, the Standing Conference on Acting Training. This working group supports quality assurance in acting training and advocates for the interests of its member institutes. In recent years, numerous universities and training centers have joined forces to promote acting training nationwide.
The role of the European Theater Academy
The European Theater Academy “Konrad Ekhof” in Hamburg organizes the national competition for German-speaking acting students and is also working intensively on the further development of the training offerings. The support of these initiatives is clearly reflected in the support from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, which also underlines the perspective on young talent in the theater sector hfmt-hamburg.de explained.
The Rostock University of Music and Theater is named as the expected host of the meeting in 2026, which illustrates the efforts for constant development and networking in German-speaking acting training.
