The first graduates of the new master's program in food technology celebrate success!
On April 11, 2025, the first seven graduates of the international master's program “Food Process and Product Engineering” successfully completed their studies. This innovative course of study was launched in 2022 as a cooperation between the Hanover Veterinary University Foundation and the DIL German Institute for Food Technology e. V. The aim of the program is to train experts who focus on sustainable and safe food production.
The master's degree curriculum combines scientific principles with practical experience in order to optimally prepare students for the challenges of the food industry. This first year included participants from seven different countries: India, South Africa, Nepal, Eritrea, Germany, Türkiye and Iran. Professor Dr. Klaus Osterrieder, President of TiHo, ceremoniously presented the certificates and emphasized that the graduates are now ready to develop innovative concepts in food production.
Pioneers in the food industry
Particular emphasis was placed by Professor Dr. Madeleine Plötz, chair of the commission for the master's degree program, highlighted the role of the graduates as pioneers in this new program. Their intensive engagement with food technology and process economics is crucial for their competence and innovative strength. Dr. Volker Heinz, director of the DIL, emphasized the social relevance of the course. He emphasized that the graduates are capable of finding sustainable solutions in food production.
The course provides knowledge in the development and quality assurance of new food products. Modern processing technologies and sustainable production methods are also taught. During their training, students have the opportunity to complete practical phases in well-known companies such as SLA Software Logistik Artland GmbH, Wernsing Feinkost GmbH and Leiber GmbH or to write their master's thesis there.
