The Deutschlandstipendium has developed into an important instrument for promoting talent at Clausthal University of Technology since its introduction seven years ago. How TU Clausthal According to reports, around 30 students are now regularly supported, whereas at the beginning there were 13 scholarship holders. In the current funding period, a total of 35 students will be honored who have distinguished themselves through both academic achievements and social commitment.

The ceremony for the presentation of the certificates took place in the Clausthal Center for Materials Technology (CZM). Over 50 students and sponsors took part to honor the successes of the scholarship holders. The representative of the Presidium for the Deutschlandstipendium, Prof. Gunther Brenner, as well as Dr. Sebastian Röthele from Sympatec GmbH reported on the connection between their company and the institution. TÜV Hannover/Saxony-Anhalt is also making a valuable contribution by supporting five students.

Details about funding and financing

The scholarship amounts to 300 euros per month, half of which is financed by the federal government and the other half by private donors. Interested sponsors can actively participate in the program for as little as 150 euros. Germany scholarship emphasizes that the scholarship is paid out directly from the universities to the scholarship holders. In addition, the scholarship is independent of income and can be received in parallel with BAföG, which makes it attractive for many students.

The scholarship holders are selected by a committee that also includes the study center. The selection criteria are diverse and take into account both academic and academic achievements, awards and the voluntary commitment of the applicants.

Diverse opportunities for students

Students of all nationalities and disciplines at state or state-recognized universities can apply for the scholarship. In an increasingly international educational landscape, the Deutschlandstipendium is also available to refugees who are enrolled at a participating university. The funding is intended for at least two semesters and a maximum until the end of the standard period of study. The Clausthal University of Technology would like to continue to support this in the future and is looking for interested sponsors to expand the program.

The certificate handover ceremony was accompanied by music from a saxophone ensemble from the TU Big Band and offered the participants the opportunity to talk to each other over a snack afterwards. These networking opportunities are an important part of the university and strengthen relationships between students and sponsors.
