Celebrations for the 250th anniversary of TU Clausthal are in sight!

The Clausthal University of Technology is preparing for an important event: the institution's 250th anniversary will be celebrated from June 14th to 22nd, 2025. These celebrations are closely linked to the town festival in Clausthal-Zellerfeld, which takes place from June 20th to 22nd. President Dr.-Ing. Sylvia Schattauer and Mayor Petra Emmerich-Kopatsch highlighted the close cooperation between the university and the city in order to create an unforgettable anniversary.

A big highlight of the festival week will be the “Long Night of Science” on June 20th from 3 p.m. This event includes exciting lectures, demonstrations and various hands-on activities that offer both students and citizens the opportunity to experience the university's scientific achievements up close. On the same day, the city festival promises a lively atmosphere with a variety of culinary offerings, live music, including from the Antenne Niedersachsen band, and the traditional Clausthal Midnight Scream at midnight.

Festive program and special events

In addition to the city festival, a club mile will take place on June 21st, offering a diverse program. The university's central ceremony will be held in the auditorium, with a live broadcast being offered to the city festival visitors in the Audimax. In addition, adventure seekers can book helicopter flights in cooperation with the university, while the TU Clausthal Geomuseum remains open to visitors throughout the weekend.

The festival week is supplemented by numerous public events. These include the opening concert on June 15th in the Marktkirche, the event “Exploring interesting facts. From the mountains to the stars” on June 16th in the university library, as well as Science Day on June 18th, which deals with “Innovations in the Circular Economy”. The “ZukunftsEndecker – a science day for small and big minds” is on the program on June 19th, and the mining history colloquium will take place on June 14th.

A high demand for overnight stays in hotels in the Upper Harz region is evidence of the great anticipation of the anniversary.
