International students take off: Hildesheim welcomes you with scholarships!
On October 7, 2025, the International Office held a welcome event in Hildesheim to make it easier for international students to start their studies. The aim of this event is to make it easier for new students to arrive in the city and to make their first contacts. Also Prof. Dr. Bettina Kluge, Vice President for International Affairs and Equal Opportunities, gave a warm welcome speech.
The introductory week program includes a wide range of activities. This includes information events that present important tools and institutions at the university. In addition, city tours through Hildesheim and the surrounding area are planned to give the new students an overview of their new home.
Scholarships for committed students
Scholarships from the Rotary Club of Hildesheim were also awarded as part of the event. These scholarships are intended to honor the social and intercultural commitment of international students. Specifically, there is an annual scholarship of 1,000 euros, which is awarded to particularly committed students.
The 2025 scholarship recipients are Burcu Koçlu and Thi Nhan Nguyen. Burcu Koçlu is studying international information management and is already a member of several student initiatives. Its goal is to combine science and activism. Thi Nhan Nguyen is enrolled in the master's program German as a Second Language and is involved in the language tandem in the International Office as well as volunteering to support charitable projects and the development of teaching materials.
The scholarships, which are awarded by the Rotary Foundation and the respective Rotary clubs, are aimed at talented students and are available for further and graduate studies, such as Rotary Foundation reported. Those interested should contact their local Rotary club to learn more about the scholarships available and how to apply.
Extensive opportunities through the Rotary Foundation
The Rotary Foundation not only offers scholarships for bachelor's and master's programs, but also supports specialist scholarships in the areas of peace and conflict research. These Rotary Peace Fellowships are designed for college graduates and can last between one and four years. An advanced degree in a relevant area is often sought.
Funding for scholarships can come from locally raised funds as well as district or global grants from the Rotary Foundation. Global Grant scholarships support students in a variety of focus areas, including peacebuilding, disease control, education and environmental protection.
With a committed approach to supporting international students and their networking, the Rotary Club of Hildesheim shows how important intercultural exchange and social responsibility are in today's globalized world. The event in Hildesheim sends a strong signal for the appreciation of commitment and diversity.
