Urban Sketching: Discover the art of street scenes in Hanover!

The Photography & Communication Association is opening a new exhibition entitled “Urban Sketching” in the art gallery of the Hannover Medical School (MHH) on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 7 p.m. This special art form, which captures everyday scenes with pen and paint, takes visitors on a visual journey through the Hanover region.

The exhibition features a variety of drawings that capture street scenes, cafes and architectural highlights. Urban sketching has become a popular form of expression in recent years, encouraging artists to creatively document their surroundings. A central goal of the exhibition is to present new perspectives on the city of Hanover and its diverse facets.

Details about the exhibition

Access to the exhibition in the MHH Kunstgang, Carl-Neuberg-Straße 1, 30625 Hanover, is free of charge. Opening times are daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Visitors are offered the opportunity to talk directly to the artists and learn more about their inspirations and techniques. The exhibition runs until May 31, 2025 and promises to be a highlight of the local art scene.

According to the organizers, the exhibition aims not only to promote the art of urban sketching, but also to stimulate interest in artistic expression in general and support young talent. The association plans to organize more exhibitions in the future and welcomes donations that can support these efforts Discover Hanover is to be read.

Workshops for those interested

In addition to the exhibition, workshops will also be offered for anyone wanting to expand their drawing and sketching skills. These workshops take place at Herstelle Castle and take participants to various inspiring locations, including the Kassel Wilhelmshöhe Castle Park and the Weser Renaissance architecture in Holzminden. The planned dates are June 20-22, 2025.

The workshop offers comprehensive support, ranging from individual support to various techniques such as the quick & dirty technique or the use of BrushPen and watercolor. In total, those interested can take part in this unique experience, which offers a combination of art, community and discovery, for 350 euros. You can find the details on the website Urban Sketcher.

The connection between art and everyday life in the “Urban Sketching” exhibition underlines the importance of creative documentation for understanding urban spaces and how they change over time. Whether through the conscious perception of everyday moments or the exploration of new artistic techniques - the event will hopefully help to promote interest in art and culture in the Hanover region.
