Lecture series on the future of energy research started in Hanover!

The Leibniz University of Hannover (LUH) and the Hannover Adult Education Center have initiated an interesting series of lectures that deal with future-oriented topics in energy research. The series entitled “Knowledge creates energy: Energy research for the city of tomorrow” will take place on a total of nine evenings from April to December 2025. Researchers from various LUH faculties as well as representatives of municipal companies will appear as speakers.

Particular attention is paid to the topics of solar and wind energy, electromobility, hydrogen, energy systems and sustainable air traffic. These topics are not only highly topical, but also crucial for the energy transition in Germany. The series of lectures is designed as part of the LUH's activities in the “Future Energy” science year to raise awareness of innovative energy concepts. Admission to the events is free, but registration is recommended.

• Elektrisch unterwegs – Elektromobilität für Busse und Pkw
  – Datum: 7. Mai 2025, 18 Uhr
  – Ort: Leibniz Universität Hannover
  – Referenten: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Bernd Ponick und Jens Ernsting
  – Thema: Funktionsweise von Elektroantrieben und Elektromobilität im öffentlichen Verkehr.
• Energiewende mit System – der Weg zu Niedersachsens Energiesystem der Zukunft
  – Datum: 11. Juni 2025, 18 Uhr
  – Ort: Volkshochschule Hannover
  – Referent: Dr. Raphael Niepelt
  – Thema: Entwicklung eines Zukunftsszenarios für das Energiesystem in Niedersachsen.
• Grünes Kraftwerk Europas – Windkraft aus der Nordsee für die Stadt von morgen
  – Datum: 2. Juli 2025, 18 Uhr
  – Ort: Leibniz Universität Hannover
  – Referent: Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Raimund Rolfes
  – Thema: Windstromerzeugung in der Nordsee und Offshore-Megastrukturen.

The website offers news about innovative projects as well as information about the funding landscape in the field of applied energy research.

Visitors to the former specialist portals are redirected to energieforschung.de, where they can access current articles and reports. The platform not only provides information about the progress of funding projects, but also offers options for filtering according to specific funding priorities. A monthly newsletter keeps interested parties up to date on developments and news.

Other information channels on applied energy research include the YouTube channel @energieforschung and LinkedIn, which regularly report on current topics on behalf of the BMWK. This demonstrates the commitment to informing the public about the significant advances in energy research and stimulating discourse about future forms of energy.
