On June 20, 2025, the forecourt of the castle at the University of Münster will once again be the venue for the popular rock and metal open air event “The Castle Rocks”. This event, held annually since 2015, offers music lovers a free experience from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. This year there are four talented bands on stage: Soulbound, Aeverium, Postmodern Fantasy and Fremdwelt.
Prof. Dr. Christopher Deninger, mathematics professor and himself a passionate metal fan, is the initiator of this popular event. After a pause due to the pandemic, the event was brought back with great enthusiasm. The bands represent different facets of the rock and metal scene, from alternative metal to symphonic metal.
The bands in detail
Soulbound will delight the audience with their unique sound, reminiscent of gothic rock or industrial metal. The band Aeverium, who have already performed at festivals such as M'era Luna, Rock Harz and Wacken Open Air, present their modern interpretation of goth metal. Postmodern Fantasy will create a special atmosphere with its fascinating mix of hard guitars and ethereal electro sounds. Last but not least, Fremdwelt will impress the audience with their independent style, which combines elements of black, death and post metal.
At the same time, an intensive weekend is on the horizon for music lovers, because just one day later, on June 21, 2025, the castle will once again be the venue for a metal highlight. Among the bands announced are “Lacrimas Profundere” and “Snow White Blood”, which are already raising great expectations. “Lacrimas Profundere” features their latest album “How To Shroud Yourself With Night”, while “Sweet Ermengarde” brings their influence from the 80s British gothic rock scene back into the light.
Special framework conditions
The anticipation at both events is palpable. The organizers are counting on overall positive feedback on the mood of the past festivals. Drinks from Pinkus Bier are on offer, although the first visit looks cheaper on the wallet: from 5pm to 6pm there are two for the price of one. For safety reasons, the rule was also introduced that you are not allowed to bring your own drinks because of the risk of glass breakage.
