University awards: These modules set new standards in teaching!

On June 11, 2025, the students of the FernUniversität in Hagen celebrated the awarding of their best teaching modules with the renowned “Golden WiWi Owl” teaching award. This year, awards were given to the best compulsory and elective modules from 2023 and 2024, which are based on the results of the annual teaching award surveys. These surveys were intensively evaluated by the student council to determine the most outstanding courses.

Student council spokesman Adam Ernst emphasized the importance of didactic concepts, practical content and committed support. These criteria make the award-winning modules standards for good teaching.

Excellent modules

The “Golden WiWi Owl” honors the following modules:

The award makes it clear what constitutes good teaching for students and which modules they should consider further. In addition to these awards, there are other initiatives to recognize teaching quality.

Additional awards

The Humboldt University in Berlin also regularly honors the best courses. In the period from 2023 to 2024, the lecture “Financial Intermediation” by Prof. Dr. Max Bruche and the exercise “Business Analytics and Data Science” by Prof. Dr. Stefan Lessmann was recognized as outstanding. These events represent the high standards of teaching at this institution.

The Martin Luther University of Halle has announced teaching prizes in various categories for 2025. These awards focus on “Teaching/Learning for and through social engagement” and “Innovative Testing”. The winners will be honored on May 27, 2025 as part of Teaching Day. The aim of these initiatives is to continuously promote and ensure the quality of teaching.

The awarding of teaching prizes at the various universities shows how important it is to reward excellent teaching and to optimally support students through innovative teaching concepts. They form a fundamental part of the commitment to outstanding academic education.
