KölnerKinderUni 2025: Exciting workshops for sports-loving kids!

The KölnerKinderUni 2025 took place from May 19th to 22nd at the German Sport University Cologne and marked the return of the popular event after a year-long break. The target group of the Children's University are sports-loving children between the ages of 8 and 14. This year a total of 13 events were offered, including both workshops and lectures on exciting topics such as tennis, beach volleyball, inline skating, dance and more. Particular mention is made of the topic “Dream of the 1st Bundesliga”, which attracted many young sports fans. DSHS Cologne reports that since it was founded in 2007, other Cologne research institutions have also been involved in the event.

The first day began with an introduction to the lecture hall, followed by a course on football tactics and rules and a course on self-compassion in sport. Two hip-hop dance courses were also offered, which were very popular. On the second day the focus was on sports such as tennis and beach volleyball, which were suitable for both beginners and advanced players. The third day featured a course titled “Danced Democracy” and another on muscle function and movement. The final day focused on practical experiences, including inline skating and courses on exercise and fitness via digital media.

The participation and successes of the young athletes

Over 150 participants collected stamps at the event for the workshops and lectures they attended. Seven stamps entitle you to be awarded the Children's University Bachelor's certificate, which will be awarded during a special celebration in the fall. The large crowd at the Children's University shows the young people's enthusiasm for sporting activities and learning about sport. Online registration was possible via the Children's University website, which offered an overview of the diverse offerings.

The German Sports University in Cologne is not only known for the Children's University, but also offers numerous further training opportunities in the area of ​​athletic training. A particularly interesting event is the online seminar “Athletic training with children and young people”, which will take place on January 13, 2025. Theoretical basics for athletic training suitable for children and young people are taught. Participants learn how to design age-appropriate training plans, which is particularly important for trainers, base and club managers. Thanks go to the lecturers and helpers who have worked tirelessly for the success of the Cologne Children's University.
