Concert highlight in Essen: Carmina Burana” inspires on July 8th!

On July 8, 2025, a concert evening will take place in the Redeemer Church in Essen that will focus on the impressive “Carmina Burana” by Carl Orff. Loud Folkwang University the performance is presented in an arrangement for piano and percussion. The participants are made up of talented groups and individual artists, including the Folkwang CONCERT CHOIR, the Folkwang VOCAL ENSEMBLE, the men's voices of the Hannover Boys' Choir and the children's choir of the Aalto Theater Essen.

Folkwang Professor Jörg Breiding took over the musical direction. The children's choir is rehearsed by Patrick Jaskolka-Hampe. For the solo parts, the singers Jana-Sophia Gebhardt (soprano), Vladyslav Shkarupilo (countertenor) and Christoph Scheeben (tenor and baritone) are on stage, while the pianists Başak Merev and Ievgeniia Iermachkova accompany the musical performance. In addition, the performance will be supported by Folkwang students from Prof. Katarzyna Myćka's percussion class.

Church concert and entry conditions

The additional concert with masterpieces of choral music on June 26, 2025 at 8 p.m. in the Evangelical Church in Essen-Werden offers another musical delight. Admission to both concerts is free, but a collection is requested to support the continuation of such cultural events.

The oratorio choir Liederkranz Ravensburg 1827 e.V., one of the oldest choirs in Baden-Württemberg, shows how important such contributions to local culture are. With over 70 active singers, the choir is committed to the Upper Swabia region to present a repertoire that ranges from large sacred and secular oratorios to contemporary works.
