Art helps heal: Exhibition in Bonn is dedicated to mental health
The exhibition “Are you ok?” opens in the University Museum of Bonn on August 20, 2025. This event is dedicated to the important topic of psychological stress during studies and is intended to give visitors access to mental health. The artists Johanna Schneider and the group “Die Kunsttanten Uni Bonn” present around a hundred art objects that include various techniques such as painting, watercolor, acrylic, manga, digital media and mixed media to illustrate the topic. The exhibition aims to promote open conversations about psychological stress, an important concern today. As the Robert Koch Institute emphasizes, mental health is a prerequisite for quality of life, performance and social participation. A cause also supported by the World Health Organization, mental health is defined as the ability to cope with life's stresses and be productive.
Structure of the exhibition
“Are you ok?” is divided into four sections that address different emotional states:
- Leiden, Trauer und Wut

- Gefühlschaos und Leere
- Heilung der Seele und Lebensfreude

The group “Die Kunsttanten Uni Bonn” was founded by Johanna Schneider together with her colleagues Nikola Heinz, Jessica Hoffmann, Tamara Sans-Raimbault and Katharina Vogelsberg to enable creative exchange beyond studies. Artistic expression represents an important part of dealing with mental stress and makes a valuable contribution to an often taboo topic. WDR reports that...
Details about the exhibition
The exhibition is open until November 9, 2025, from Wednesday to Sunday, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free and tours are offered on Sundays.
