Ruhr-Uni Bochum: Captured two top 100 places in the QS ranking!

On March 13, 2025, the Ruhr University Bochum achieved remarkable results in a current QS subject ranking. The university ranks among the top 100 in the world in two categories: Philosophy is ranked 46th, while Theology and Religious Studies are ranked in the 51 to 100 range. The Ruhr University Bochum, which was founded in 1962 and is considered Germany's first new public university after the Second World War, is one of the largest research universities in the country. The university is a member of the German Research Foundation, the leading research funding organization in Germany, and offers over 184 study programs in 21 different faculties.

International rankings

In the QS World University Ranking 2025, the Ruhr University Bochum takes 396th place. The rankings of the last few years show a changeable development: 416 (2023), 375 (2024) and 396 (2025). The university has also achieved various placements in the Times Higher Education Ranking, with the lowest ranking being between 251 and 300.
