Summer semester 2025: New offers and dates for students!

On April 7, 2025, all 200 public events for the 2025 summer semester will be organized online in the Folkwang University events calendar. Interested users can find all the details on the official website Folkwang website see. In this context, the university also offers guided tours of the library, which do not require registration.

The tour dates in German are scheduled as follows:

  • Montag, 14. April | 10.30 Uhr
  • Dienstag, 15. April | 12.00 Uhr
  • Mittwoch, 23. April | 15.00 Uhr
  • Donnerstag, 24. April | 12.00 Uhr

For those interested in English, tours have been scheduled for Wednesday, April 16th at 3:00 p.m. and Friday, April 25th at 10:00 a.m. The meeting point for all tours is the circulation desk in the central library on the Essen-Werden campus.

Advice options for students

Folkwang University also offers various confidential and free advice options. These are available both in person and via Zoom and can be carried out in German or English. We recommend subscribing to the Folkwang newsletter to stay informed about university information, dates and insights.

In parallel, it offers Study Foundation a calendar of events for their scholarship holders. This platform is aimed specifically at those receiving funding and lists educational events that are part of the non-material funding. Since 2021, this calendar has replaced the traditional annual program and is continually updated.

Registration for most events takes place via the internal Daidalosnet, which is only accessible to scholarship holders. Interested parties can select events based on various filter criteria, including topics, time periods and target groups. Past events can be viewed in the event calendar archive.

Scholarship offers for students

In addition to the events offered, the database of the DAAD a valuable resource for international students, graduates and university lecturers. This database offers comprehensive information about scholarship offers for study or research stays in Germany. Users can customize their requests specifically by entering subject, status and country of origin.

In addition to the DAAD, various foundations offer scholarships. The Otto Benecke Foundation e.V., active since 1965, promotes integration and qualifications in the education system. The Friedrich Ebert Foundation also supports talented foreign students using a socio-political approach. Other foundations, such as the Friedrich Naumann Foundation and the Heinrich Böll Foundation, also contribute to supporting students. It is important to note the specific application deadlines, which often end on April 30th or October 31st.

Finally, the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation awards scholarships for political education and the German Economic Foundation (sdw) supports committed students from all disciplines. In particular, teacher training students and those in MINT subjects can benefit from special offers.
