Attention students: Register for the international survey now!

Today, June 18, 2025, a significant research project is being launched that examines the personal development of young adults in the context of study visits. The National Agency for Erasmus+ University Cooperation in the DAAD and the FernUniversität in Hagen have initiated the project entitled “Campus International 2025”. The University of Duisburg-Essen reports that As part of this initiative, questions about personal development should be asked during the study period. Participants are wanted for an online survey that is aimed at all students who live and study in Germany - regardless of whether they have already had experience abroad or not.

In order to take part in the survey, an online registration form is provided. After registering, students receive a link to a personal questionnaire, which must be completed in two parts, once immediately and once in a few months. The time required is approximately 15 minutes. If you have any questions, you can contact us directly at campus-international@daad.de.

Advantages of staying abroad

A year abroad brings not only academic benefits, but also personal and culturally enriching experiences. This is highlighted by the European Union, which reports that The Erasmus+ program enables up to twelve months of study at more than 5,000 universities in 34 participating countries. This significantly broadens the students' personal and professional perspectives.

In order to participate in the Erasmus+ program, various requirements must be met. Prospective students should be enrolled at a university with a valid Erasmus charter. In addition, a recognized academic degree is required. First cycle students must be in their second year of study. The program also defines certain conditions of participation that affect the advertisement and admission.

Financial support and recognition

Students selected for the Erasmus+ program can count on a monthly allowance to cover travel and accommodation costs. The exact amount of the subsidy depends on the respective host country. Another advantage is the exemption from any admission fees at the host university. Students with disabilities also have the opportunity to apply for additional financial resources to ensure unrestricted participation.

Stays within the Erasmus+ program can vary: Students can choose between long-term mobility of 2 to 12 months or short-term mobility of 5 to 30 days. Both options involve various aspects of mobility and must be recognized by the home university. Evidence of achievements and the recognition of ECTS points are crucial so that the coursework can be credited to your home studies.

The signed learning agreement between institutions ensures that all parties are informed about rights and responsibilities and that academic recognition is ensured.

Overall, it appears that studying abroad offers not only academic benefits, but also profound personal benefits for young adults. In this context, the current “Campus International 2025” project and the Erasmus+ program are valuable instruments for promoting mobility and thus cultural understanding within Europe.
