The audit is a confidential development tool that supports universities in designing and improving their own diversity strategies. Organizational development is supplemented by peer learning. Positive feedback and data
The University of Bonn has written a comprehensive self-report, on the basis of which a peer review took place. Around 80 representatives from all status groups took part in this process. The reviewers praised the variety and breadth of the university’s diversity initiatives. What is particularly noteworthy is that the proportion of female professors at the University of Bonn increased to over 30 percent by October 2022, which was achieved two years earlier than planned.
The successfully implemented measures include the “Pathways to Research” funding program, which was initiated in 2023 to support students and doctoral candidates with a refugee or immigration history. Future strategies
The experts recommend that the University of Bonn develop a comprehensive diversity strategy. This should contain clear objectives and implementation plans. The Vice-Rectorate and the Office for Equal Opportunities and Diversity are working intensively on this strategy, which is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2024. In the long term, the university aims to promote a DEIB-sensitive university culture and bring about structural changes.
