University of Münster illuminates university sports: new floodlights!

The Münster University Society and the Sparkasse Münsterland Ost announced a significant donation today: two mobile floodlight systems will be integrated into university sports. This generous donation benefits numerous students and employees at the University of Münster, a large number of whom - over 20,000 - take part in the university sports activities every week. The new floodlight technology significantly improves the conditions for carrying out sports activities in the evening.

As part of the 2024 fundraising campaign, which brought in more than 14,000 euros from various sponsors, the implementation of this purchase was on the agenda. Previously, it was only possible to offer courses after 4 p.m. on sports fields with permanently installed floodlights. The introduction of the mobile floodlight systems will therefore not only ensure the lighting of another sports field, but also create new space for evening operations, which will benefit more than 1,000 additional students. The operation is planned from autumn on the Horstmarer Landweg.
