Inclusive university culture: TU Chemnitz invites you to get involved!
Chemnitz University of Technology invites you to help shape an inclusive university culture on October 29, 2025. This event takes place in close cooperation with the European university alliance ACROSS. The aim is to collect the experiences, perspectives and suggestions of students and employees through focus group interviews on the topics of inclusion and diversity in order to make the university more inclusive and fair tu-chemnitz.de reported.
The focus groups take place in the “Welcome Center” of the International University Center. Two different time slots are offered here: for students from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., while employees can take part from 1:45 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Registration for this free event must be sent by email to Ariane Korn by October 21, 2025. Contributions from people with different backgrounds, such as international students, people with disabilities, members of underrepresented groups and LGBTQIA+ people, are particularly welcome.
Inclusion and support
The university encourages those interested who need support, for example with accessibility or language support, to let us know when registering. The results of the focus groups will be incorporated into a joint action plan of the ACROSS alliance, which is funded by the European Union as part of the “European Universities Initiative”.
The ACROSS alliance includes nine partner universities in Europe, including the University of Banja Luka (Bosnia), the Technological University of Bialystok (Poland), the Chemnitz University of Technology (Germany), the University of Craiova (Romania), the University of Girona (Spain), the University of Nova Gorica (Slovenia), the University of Perpignan Via Domitia (France), the University of Ruse “Angel Kanchev” (Bulgaria), the University of Udine (Italy) and the National Ivan Franko University (Ukraine) as associated partner.
Diversity and equal opportunities in higher education
Promoting diversity at German universities plays a crucial role in equal opportunities and educational success. This is underpinned by the “Diversity at German Universities” initiative, which supports universities in developing individual diversity strategies and making diversity visible. The initiative is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and aims to ensure the equal participation of all university members hrk.de shows.
The various European university alliances, such as ENGAGE.EU, ENLIGHT, EUniWell and EuroTeQ, promote increased diversity and equal opportunities for all students. The alliances are actively committed to enabling diversity and equal opportunities regardless of origin, socioeconomic background or health status, reports daad.de.
The concrete implementation includes measures such as sustainable concepts, intercultural learning and the involvement of various stakeholders in order to create a strong network for inclusive higher education. These initiatives illustrate how important diversity is for science and research and how it is enriched by individual talents and multi-perspective experiences.
