New start of studies at TU Dresden: Innovative subjects for 2025!
The TU Dresden The application phase opened on June 1, 2025 for students interested in the coming academic year. This year the university is offering an extensive portfolio of 50 undergraduate and 71 postgraduate courses. New to the subject catalog are the bachelor’s degree programs “Environmental Informatics” and “Mobility and Transport Systems”.
There are significant changes in the area of master's degree programs. Starting in the winter semester, the master's program in computer science will be offered exclusively in English as “Computer Science”. In addition, the “Distributed Systems Engineering” track was removed and supplemented by the new bachelor’s degree “Applied Informatics,” which specializes in medical informatics.
Internationalization and funding opportunities
A particularly exciting offer are the new Erasmus Mundus master's courses, which were developed together with European partners. This includes the degree programs “Joint Studies in Intellectual Property and Data Law” and “Groundwater and Global Change – Impacts and Adaptation”. The aim of these programs is to offer students an international perspective and to promote transnational cooperation between European countries, such as TU Dresden presented in detail.
The Erasmus+ program offers students in short courses as well as bachelor's and master's students as well as doctoral students the opportunity to study, conduct research or complete internships abroad. Participation in this program can provide significant financial support. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) organizes Erasmus+ activities for the higher education sector.
The application deadline for undergraduate courses with restricted admission, particularly in the teaching field, ends on July 15th. Detailed information on the timeline from application to starting your studies has also been provided. The TU Dresden, as one of eleven German universities of excellence, would like to use these measures to create the best possible conditions for its students.
Support during your stay abroad
The Erasmus+ program also offers a wide range of support options during a stay abroad. Students can count on financial aid to cover travel and accommodation costs. The amount of these scholarships varies depending on the cost of living, distance between countries and other factors. This makes it easier for students, especially from peripheral regions or in difficult financial situations, to go abroad.
The Erasmus+ initiative points out that the duration of a study stay can be between 2 and 12 months, although short stays of 5 to 30 days are also possible. In order to ensure that the achievements achieved abroad are recognized, the prior signing of a learning agreement between the sending and receiving universities is required.
The TU Dresden relies on close cooperation with other European universities and companies and plans to further increase its attractiveness as a place to study through these new courses and international programs.
