Special face-to-face events are planned for postdocs. This includes a lecture by Rector Prof. Dr. Gerd Strohmeier, who will speak about “Successful conduct of appeal negotiations” on May 5, 2025.
These programs are designed to support academic and personal development and provide an opportunity for network building. In this way, Chemnitz University of Technology shows its commitment to the challenges that young scientists face.
Career funding from the DFG
In the context of promoting young scientists, the German Research Foundation (DFG) is an important institution in Germany. The DFG pursues the goal of creating research and career-friendly structures. This includes predictable career paths and competitive conditions that ensure equal opportunities and the compatibility of work and family.
The DFG supports scientists in early career phases both financially and through mentoring programs. The principles for supporting such careers are clearly defined: regular feedback discussions, quality assurance and the recognition of individual achievements are just as important as mentoring offers. Institutions are required to make clear supervision agreements and offer further training opportunities for supervisors.
These measures promote a positive corporate culture for scientists who want to work in a dynamic and international environment. Chemnitz University of Technology and the DFG are working together to continually improve the conditions for young researchers and to support numerous career paths.
