News for female founders: WEscholarship starts in Schleswig-Holstein!

The founding of companies by women is increasingly encouraged. An outstanding example of this is the WEscholarship launched today, which is supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection. This program was created to support aspiring entrepreneurs and those interested in starting a business in Schleswig-Holstein. The scholarship program is offered between the cities of Flensburg, Kiel, Lübeck and Wedel and represents an important resource for female founders.

The WEscholarship includes three months of financial support and a one-year mentoring program. Applications are also possible from women interested in starting a business who would like to realize their business idea later this year. The aim is to offer female founders and entrepreneurs a varied program that addresses their specific needs.

Program structure and events

A central component of the WEscholarship is the WEmentor mentoring program, which focuses on the individual requirements of female entrepreneurs. Participants can look forward to workshops, events and 1:1 exchanges with experienced mentors. In addition, scholarship holders are obliged to take part in at least two workshops and all four joint network meetings at the partner universities.

The participating institutions include the University of Flensburg, the Center for Entrepreneurship at CAU Kiel, the Muthesius Art University Kiel, the Hanse Innovation Campus Lübeck and the Startup Bridge at the FH Wedel. These partnerships provide an extensive basis for the mentoring and events organized for the participants.

The application deadline for the WEscholarship ends on February 15, 2025. Due to the limited places, high demand is expected, which makes participation all the more valuable.

Context and further funding opportunities

The WEscholarship is part of a larger trend that includes a variety of funding offers for female founders. These include programs like Grace Accelerator, the Female Founders Club with over 5,500 members and many other initiatives. These programs offer various forms of support, including venture capital, networking, and special events tailored to the needs of female founders.

Particularly noteworthy are programs such as “Women Tech Founders”, which aims to promote the visibility of women in the tech industry, and the “bga – nationwide female founder agency”, which offers comprehensive services for entrepreneurial women. Such initiatives show that the area of promoting women in entrepreneurship is constantly growing and diversifying.

The WEscholarship is another step in the right direction to promote equal opportunities in the area of start-ups and to support the dynamics of female entrepreneurs in the long term. Overall, a promising network will be created that not only encourages female founders in Schleswig-Holstein, but also offers them the necessary resources to be successful.
