Young pianists inspire at the piano evening in Ilmenau!

On October 14, 2025 it was announced that the auditorium maximum would be the Technical University of Ilmenau will host a very special musical event on Friday, October 24th. Under the motto “Inspired – International young master pianists in concert”, the scholarship holders Samuel Choi and Jiyoung Kim present their impressive piano skills.

Samuel Choi, the talented pianist, will be with thePartita No. 5 in G major, BWV 829by Johann Sebastian Bach, theVariations sérieuses op. 54by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy and theScherzo No. 4 op. 54by Frédéric Chopin. After a short break, Jiyoung Kim will step up to the keysSix Variations in F major on an original theme, op. 34by Ludwig van Beethoven as well as thePiano Sonata No. 8 in B major, op. 84by Sergei Prokofiev.

Ticket sales and entrance fees

Ticket sales begin at 5 p.m., while the concert starts at 6 p.m. The admission prices are moderate at 10 euros for adults and 5 euros for schoolchildren and students in order to provide a broad public with access to classical music.

The event is organized by the Elfrun Gabriel Foundation organized, which was launched in 2012 to offer young pianists a platform. Every year, a jury from the Leipzig University of Music and Theater “Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy” selects two scholarship holders who receive support in their early careers.

The foundation's scholarship includes not only financial support, but also participation in competitions and opportunities for public appearances. These measures are intended to help young musicians establish themselves in the demanding world of classical music and improve their career opportunities.
