Science for everyone: Pint of Science inspires in Salzburg!
On October 3, 2025, the University of Erfurt invites you to the popular “Pint of Science” series. The event, which was originally launched in England in 2013 and took place for the first time in Austria in 2022, will now also be held in Salzburg from May 19 to 21, 2025. The initiator Laura Ragab has made it her mission to bring science in various disciplines closer to the public.
Pint of Science is a unique opportunity to experience exciting research topics in a relaxed environment. Guests can look forward to short keynote speeches that deal with current research projects in the areas of education, psychology, public health and other disciplines. After the lectures, guests are invited to discuss in small round tables, which promotes the exchange of scientific findings and deepens understanding of the topics. The main goal is to make science more accessible and transparent.
Events in Salzburg
The Salzburg edition of “Pint of Science” takes place in the NarrenCastl, Rudolf-Biebl-Straße 22, and is open to anyone interested. No prior knowledge is required, which is particularly important in a country where experts say there is a high level of scientific skepticism. Alvina Saakyan, doctoral student at the University of Salzburg, points out the importance of science communication and encourages participation.
The festival will take place in Salzburg for the first time over three days. Visitors can look forward to presentations of the latest scientific findings from researchers at the University of Salzburg. Discussions about the social impact of science are also on the agenda. Tickets are available for 4 euros and can be purchased on the official Pint of Science website, where the detailed program can also be viewed.
Accessibility and target group
“Pint of Science” is not just aimed at students. People outside the university are also welcome to discover the variety of scientific topics. The event offers a valuable platform to explore science that is often perceived as unfamiliar in a relaxed setting and to ask questions.
The initiative is part of a larger trend aimed at making science understandable and interesting for the broader public. The positive feedback from past events shows how interested the audience is in actively participating in scientific discussions. Therefore, it is not just about presenting knowledge, but also about promoting dialogue between scientists and the public.
For more information about the event and to purchase tickets, those interested can visit the Pint of Science website. Through such initiatives, the University of Erfurt ensures that science finds a broader response and that everyone has the chance to become part of this fascinating world.
University of Erfurt reports that the event will take place on May 19th to 21st, 2025 in Salzburg. Further details are at University of Salzburg to find.
