Living healthy in Münster: Summer festival with fitness and health activities!
On June 4, 2025, the “University Medicine on the Road” event took place in the Lorenz-Süd district center in Münster. This free event, which was organized as part of the Berg Fidel summer festival, offered visitors numerous health and fitness options. Moderated by Sven Sandbothe, a well-known presenter from NRW local radio, experts from university medicine and sports gathered to shed light on the topics of health, nutrition and stress management.
The panel of experts was made up of well-known specialists, including Prof. Kristian Schneider, team doctor at SC Preußen Münster and senior physician in the Clinic for General Orthopedics and Tumor Orthopedics at the UKM, as well as Prof. Tanja Grammer, director of the Institute for General Medicine. Also Prof. Rupert Conrad, Director of the Clinic for Psychosomatics and Psychotherapy, and Dr. Gunther S. Joos, an expert in emergency medicine, were part of the program. The group was complemented by a dedicated team of diet assistants and physiotherapy as well as Sophia Gehring, surgical assistant.
Interactive talks and health checks
The event offered a diverse program that covered, among other things, top-class sport, injury prevention and teamwork in the operating room. Participants were able to take part in interactive discussions that offered insights into the latest medical findings and reports from the operating room. This also included topics on risk factors for a healthy life and the treatment of sports injuries, which were of great interest to the interested visitors, as physical activity is an important pillar of health care. A celebration for the whole family
A special highlight of the event was the participation of the mascot Fiffi from SC Preußen and the clinic clowns from UKM, who created a good atmosphere. The choir of the PRIMUS school Berg Fidel and the St. Maximilian-Kolbe family center contributed to the festive atmosphere with singing and dance performances. In addition to the entertainment, a dedicated team from institutions and social facilities from the district took care of the guests' physical well-being with food and drinks.
The interactivity of the talks and the opportunity to contact experts directly were greatly appreciated by the participants.
