University Pearl June: Münster promotes sustainable start-up ideas!

On June 30, 2025, the Ideation Lab of the REACH - EUREGIO Start-up Center was awarded University Pearl of the Month for June. This is reported by the Donors' Association. The lab, which is offered in collaboration with the University of Münster and the FH Münster as well as leading companies in the region, has set itself the goal of supporting those interested in starting a business in developing sustainable business ideas for a clean future.

More than 50 participants are currently taking part in the program, which extends over a period of six weeks. The participants, mostly students, either bring ideas that have already been worked out or are newcomers to the field of self-employment. The focus is on the areas of sustainable chemistry, energy and future-proof mobility. Next fall, the next lab will focus on FinTech topics.

Practical support

The Ideation Lab offers a structured workshop program that teaches participants not only the basics of starting a business, but also specific skills such as pitching business ideas and building start-up teams. In this context, the participants work closely with experienced mentors from the partner companies to develop and validate their ideas. This helps to promote the transfer of knowledge between the academic and entrepreneurial worlds.

At the end of the program, the best founding teams have the opportunity to present their ideas to representatives of the regional start-up ecosystem. This final event not only represents a milestone for the participants, but also underlines the importance of the Ideation Lab for strengthening the regional economy. Initiatives of this kind are considered essential for training the next generation of entrepreneurs in Germany, as well Startup Nation Germany can be seen.

A contribution to start-up culture

The donor association, which promotes innovative projects, emphasizes the importance of cooperation between science and business. The Ideation Lab promotes creative and cooperative working methods and thus strengthens not only young talent, but also the regional start-up ecosystem. These developments must be seen in an overarching context: In recent years, a dynamic and innovative start-up ecosystem has been established in Germany, which is regularly evaluated and optimized through dashboard analyzes such as those from Startup Nation Germany.

The dashboard highlights central dimensions of the ecosystem and identifies development potential, particularly in the areas of new start-ups, investments and exits. These trends are not only reflected in Germany, but also show where the greatest potential lies in an international comparison.

The Ideation Lab of the REACH - EUREGIO Start-up Center is an example of these positive developments and shows how targeted educational programs can contribute to promoting a lively start-up culture in Germany. Innovative approaches to training entrepreneurs are crucial to ensuring long-term economic success.
