Innovative team wins SENovation Award: Protection against fraud for seniors!

On October 7, 2025, the “OPEN Campus” of the Dortmund headquarters was held SENovation Award 2025 awarded, which honors innovative solutions for the aging society. The great honor went to the start-up NOX GmbH and the “Fraud Radar+” team, consisting of students from the University of Vechta. The team prevailed against 43 other applicants from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The “Fraud Radar+” app aims to warn seniors about fraud on cell phones, telephones and at the front door. It provides preventative education through interactive lessons to better protect older people. Torsten Uhlig, Chairman of the Board of the SIGNAL IDUNA Group, and Mona Neubaur, North Rhine-Westphalia's Economics Minister and patron of the award, honored the winning teams, each of which received prize money of 5,000 euros.

Accompaniment through LINGA weeks

The “Fraud Radar+” team was formed during the LINGA weeks, a project funded by the state of Lower Saxony. These weeks sensitized students to the topic of “aging as an opportunity”. In the competition, which is organized by the SIGNAL IDUNA Group in cooperation with the German Senior League, the team was encouraged to apply for the SENovation Award after coming second.

The members of the team are committed students, including Jonas Möller and Alexander Meyer from social services management, Mareike Wisdom from gerontology at the University of Vechta, and Johanna Götz, who studies business informatics at the University of Hildesheim. Lennart Bergelt and Michel Amorin, both from the architecture department at Bielefeld University, are also part of the team.

Future developments

The prize money and the coaching offered are intended to contribute significantly to the further development of the app. The Vechta district has already started implementing the app, which increases the chances that the innovative solution will soon be in use.

The SENovation Award is considered the largest start-up prize for demographic change in the DACH region. Since it began in 2018, over 500 teams have applied. The next application phase starts on January 2, 2026.
