KIT shines in the university ranking – top ratings in study conditions!
The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) achieved excellent results in the latest evaluations by the Center for University Development (CHE). Loud KIT Students rated their study conditions in eleven subject groups predominantly positively. The subject groups include, among others, architecture, civil engineering, biotechnology, electrical engineering and information technology as well as mechanical engineering and mechatronics.
Particularly noteworthy is the almost consistently high score in the “Support at the beginning of your studies” category. This positive feedback reflects the high quality of the study organization, the effective examination processes and the top performance of the IT infrastructure as well as the library equipment. The students also appreciated the learning environment and the wide range of excursions on offer.
Rankings and research achievements
In addition, KIT shows impressive results in other rankings. In the 2025 EduRank, KIT achieved 14th place in Germany and 193rd place worldwide. The institute's research focuses, including materials science and electrical engineering, have contributed to KIT being ranked among the TOP 100 in 39 research topics, such as EduRank reported.
In the core disciplines of engineering and physics, KIT even occupies third and second place in Germany. The publications and citations speak for themselves: 80,333 publications with over 2 million citations were registered in the field of mechanical engineering. In physics there are 78,108 publications with over 2 million citations, which underlines the academic strength of KIT.
International recognition
In addition to the national evaluation, the KIT also received international attention. Loud Times Higher Education The World University Rankings 2025 assess over 2,000 institutions from 115 countries, analyzing 472,694 data points from 2,860 institutions. These rankings are based on 18 indicators for assessment in five key areas, including teaching and research environment.
KIT is not only an important university in Germany, but also has a name on a global level. The students' successes and research achievements contribute to the institute's reputation and make it an attractive choice for prospective students worldwide.
