The University of Stuttgart has found itself in the new Ranking of the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) once again established among the best universities in the world. The ranking was published on June 2, 2025, evaluating almost 21,500 institutions, which is around 500 more than the previous year. With an impressive rank of 555, the University of Stuttgart is among the top 2.6 percent of all universities worldwide.
The performance of the University of Stuttgart in the area of teaching is particularly noteworthy. Here it ranks 133rd and is therefore among the best 0.6 percent worldwide. When assessing the career success opportunities of its alumni, the university was ranked 431st, which is in the top 2 percent. In the area of research, the University of Stuttgart ranks 584th, also among the top 2.7 percent.
QS World University Rankings 2025
In addition to the CWUR ranking, the internationally renowned QS World University Rankings 2025 published their results. This ranking is the first to take the aspects of employability and sustainability into account in its methodology. 1,500 universities from 106 countries and territories were evaluated. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) took first place for the 13th time, followed by Imperial College London and the University of Oxford.

Imperial College London has particularly improved, rising four places, which is the biggest improvement in the top ten. Overall, China and India saw the biggest rises in the rankings, while the UK received the second best average score in International Student Ratio.
Insight into the subject rankings
Published in addition to the general rankings Top Universities the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025, which cover 55 individual subjects in five broad subject areas. This year's rankings are the most comprehensive yet, with 171 institutions not represented in the previous edition.
