Berlin Global Dialogue 2025: Multipolarity as the key to prosperity!

The Berlin Global Dialogue (BGD) will take place on August 26, 2025, which will focus on the importance of multipolarity as a catalyst for global growth and stability. In a world increasingly dominated by multiple power structures, this event aims to create opportunity and prosperity for all. Lars-Hendrik Röller, the founder and chairman of Berlin Global Dialogue, highlights the relevance of this event to define new rules for the world order. The discussion is supported by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and is part of a series of annual summits that bring together senior decision-makers from around the world.

The BGD, which was launched in 2022, aims to develop solutions to the pressing challenges of the global economy. This year the theme is “Shifting Power, Shaping Prosperity”. It reflects the change to a multipolar world order in which power relations are increasingly distributed. This new paradigm requires a constructive approach to change and an exploration of multipolarity as a driver of economic growth and stability.

Collaboration and challenges

Technological developments, including advances in artificial intelligence, are reshaping global power structures and presenting both opportunities and challenges. It is noted that cooperation between countries is crucial for innovation, but fragmentation of cooperation is threatened. Multipolarity offers the opportunity to promote greater balance and prosperity among nations.

Responsibility for global order is placed on a broader basis. Both established and emerging powers, such as China and India, must face this responsibility. China is establishing itself as a leading economic power, while India is increasingly perceived as a center for technology and innovation. To ease any tensions, three key areas for collaboration have been identified:

  • Multipolarität akzeptieren.
  • Reformen bestehender Institutionen zur Anpassung an neue Machtverhältnisse.
  • Zusammenarbeit trotz unterschiedlicher Perspektiven.

Public-private partnerships in focus

Particular attention will also be given to the role of public and private partnerships aimed at diversifying supply chains, supporting critical infrastructure and driving innovation. Expectations for companies to maintain economic interconnectivity and stability are increasing. The BGD 2025 creates a platform for business and government leaders to explore possible partnerships together.

Overall, the Berlin Global Dialogue is an important forum for the exchange of diverse perspectives and interdisciplinary collaboration. With previous participants including Emmanuel Macron, Olaf Scholz and Larry Fink, the event demonstrates its international reach and the urgency of the issues it addresses. By strengthening dialogue between different interest groups, the aim is to overcome the challenges of the multipolar world and shape a more stable future.

In this dynamic geopolitical landscape, the need for close and responsible cooperation between nations and actors is crucial. Developments in the coming years will be crucial to how the world navigates the era of multipolarity.
