A quick start to science: Children experience energy live in Berlin!
On June 28, 2025, the Technical University of Berlin will be transformed into a venue for science enthusiasts of all ages. As part of the Long Night of Science the Physicists present their rousing show "Blitztastisch! The electrifying energy show for children". The event begins at 5:30 p.m., admission begins at 5:00 p.m. in the Audimax of the House of Ideas, located on Straße des 17. Juni 135, Berlin. Participation is included in the ticket for the Long Night of Sciences, which is available for 5 euros.
This interactive science show is designed specifically for children ages eight and up and their families. Spectators can look forward to exciting experimental demonstrations on the topics of electricity, light and energy. Under the direction of qualified physicist Marcus Weber and a dedicated team of scientists and artists, the Physicists & Co, an impressive program is offered that has already thrilled over a million viewers - not only in Germany, but also in Europe, the Middle and Far East.
Broadened perspectives
Another exciting aspect of the show is the contribution by Khulud Alsouleman from the Department of Energy Process Engineering, who will present sustainable methods of energy production. This element is particularly important for the target group as it introduces young viewers to the relevance of environmental issues and sustainable technical innovation.
Around 50 scientific and science-related institutions in Berlin are taking part in the Long Night of Science. The event extends across six urban areas and offers a wide-ranging program. In addition to interactive shows, there are also spectacular experiments, exciting lectures and guided tours. The aim is to offer visitors the opportunity to look behind the scenes of science and to provide adventurous learning opportunities for all age groups.
Education for the future
The organizers attach great importance to education for sustainable development. A suitable example is the planned one DPG teacher training on the topic, which will take place from May 22nd to 25th, 2024 in the Bad Honnef Physics Center. Here, physics teachers should receive suggestions for integrating sustainability topics into lessons and enabling students to act in the face of global challenges such as climate change and energy supply.
These various initiatives not only inspire young people about science, but also train teachers. This promotes a sustainable knowledge culture that goes beyond pure learning and trains students to become active contributors to the future.
