Medical students at the MHH receive important support through scholarships
On March 28, 2025, a ceremony to award the Deutschlandstipendium for the 2024/25 academic year was held at the Hannover Medical School (MHH). This year, 29 MHH students will receive financial support in the form of 300 euros per month. Half of this sum is provided by private sponsors and the other half by the federal government, which underlines how important collaboration between the public sector and private sponsors is in order to make it easier for talented young people to have access to academic training.
The scholarship holders, who are characterized by excellent academic achievements and social commitment, not only have financial flexibility, but also the opportunity to continue to assume responsibility in society. It is particularly worth mentioning that the personal circumstances of the scholarship holders are taken into account during the selection process in order to give them a fair chance of receiving funding. Scholarship holder Dr. In her speech, Julia Spanier emphasized the positive impact of the 300 euros on her flexibility for child care, which illustrates the importance of individual support.
Supporters and funding
The awarding of the scholarships was made possible by a total of 17 sponsors, including eight professors from the MHH, alumni and a former patient. Ten of the scholarships were financed by the MHH plus support foundation, while others were taken over by organizations such as Alumni e.V., the Society of Friends of the MHH, the Marburger Bund Niedersachsen and the apoBank Foundation. Professor Rainer Blasczyk, one of the sponsors, emphasized the importance of supporting young talent in his speech, based on his own experiences during his studies.
The Deutschlandstipendium is part of a nationwide program that supports talented students and encourages them in their academic careers. Financing of 150 euros per month from private sponsors and 150 euros from the federal government is important support for many students. At the MHH, the first award took place in the winter semester of 2011/12, with 14 scholarships at that time.
Further support offers
The MHH also offers various contact points for students who need additional financial support, such as BAföG. Information and advice on this is available from the Hannover Student Union. In addition, the scholarship guide of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research offers a platform for searching for scholarships that specifically supports young people and adults in finding the funding opportunities that are right for them. This also includes programs for students with disabilities or chronic illnesses.
These numerous offerings promote evidence-based learning and aim to enable young people to pursue a practical, individual and supportive academic career. The combination of scholarships, personal support and the focus on social responsibility reflects the spirit of collaboration at MHH and shows how important it is to work together for the next generation of professionals. Information about all scholarships and funding programs can be found on the official website of the MHH and the Hannover Student Union.
For everyone who is looking for funding, these programs are both an opportunity and a significant sign of appreciation for the social achievements and commitment of the students.
