Democracy Day: Celebration and activities expected at Universitätsplatz!

On September 12, 2025, the Technical University of Braunschweig will be at the center of various important events. Next Monday the celebrations will take placeDemocracy Daywill take place at 11:55 a.m. on University Square. This event promises numerous activities designed to promote awareness of democratic values.

Another important point on the program is:Summer School on the “Automotive Circular Economy”, which is holding its first meeting at the Wolfsburg campus. Here, students work on ideas for more sustainable automobile production, a topic that is becoming increasingly relevant these days.

Innovative research projects

The university also presents exciting research initiatives. This is one of those projectsCOIN project on wave power, which is funded with 4 million euros from the “Horizon Europe” program. From November 1st, nine European organizations will work together to develop innovative wave power plants.

Another laudable initiative isHiPerCoRig, a special drilling rig that specializes in extracting drill cores at water depths of up to 200 meters. This project is supported in cooperation with the GFZ Helmholtz Center for Georesearch.

Prof. Fahim Mohammadi was appointed as the new head of the Institute for Design Methodology and Representation on September 1st. Under his leadership, new impulses in research and teaching can be expected.

Children and family-friendly offers

The newly furnishedParent-child officein the PVZ, which has been available since August, offers parents the opportunity to book room 422 via the Outlook calendar. This shows the university's commitment to family-friendly solutions.

It also starts on September 15thChildren's University, which will provide students with knowledge about the topic of recycling. In addition to lectures, there will be a podcast series called “Clever Demand!” to promote younger people's interest in environmental issues.

There will be an information event on September 23rdFeodor Lynen Research Scholarshiporganized. This scholarship supports German researchers during research stays abroad and is financed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. It is open to postdocs and experienced researchers from all disciplines and aims to enable worldwide research stays with members of the Humboldt Network. Participants benefit from individual support and a variety of support services.

Those interested can choose from around 25,000 potential scientific hosts worldwide, although some hosts also have to make a financial contribution of their own. Humboldt Foundation also promotes a balanced gender ratio and encourages female scientists and members of underrepresented groups to apply.

The variety of events and projects at the Technical University of Braunschweig not only shows the commitment to sustainability and family-friendliness, but also the support of scientific research and its development on an international level.

Additionally, there will be an exhibition on September 16th at 3 p.mBuilding research and monument preservationopened in the architecture pavilion, presented by Prof. Gunnar Schulz-Lehnfeld.
