Classic meets jazz: Unforgettable concert evening in the Pina Bausch Theater!
On May 13th at 7:30 p.m. there will be a remarkable concert evening in the Pina Bausch Theater on the Essen-Werden campus that combines the genres of classical and jazz in a unique setting. The evening, entitled “Classical meets Jazz”, promises a diverse musical experience that appeals to both classical music lovers and jazz fans. Folkwang University reports that the evening will be organized under the direction of Andreas Kohn, professor of singing and musical theater. Kohn highlights the creative collaboration between “classics” and “jazzers” that went into the evening’s design.
The piano accompaniment is provided by the talented Ana-Maria Dafova, who teaches singing and accompaniment at the Folkwang University. Highlights of the program include musical songs from well-known works such as “Jesus Christ Superstar” and “A Little Night Music”. The Folkwang Jazz Combo, led by Leo Richarz, who is studying jazz piano for a master's degree, will also be present and perform some of the most popular jazz standards such as "Witchcraft" and "I'm attuned to love from head to toe".
An evening for everyone
The event not only offers a varied program, but also attractive ticket prices: normal tickets cost 7.00 euros, while reduced tickets are available for 5.00 euros. Students with a valid school ID even have free entry.
Advance sales are available for everyone who would like to experience the Folkwang Jazz Combo and the musical talent of the students. Tickets can be purchased via the Folkwang ticket hotline on 0201_4903-231, by email to karten@folkwang-uni.de or at the box office.
More musical highlights
The finale of the jazz night will be presented by Martin Sasse, a substitute professor of jazz piano and jazz composition, who will perform hard bop and modern jazz classics. The event also starts at 7.30 p.m. and tickets cost 6 euros (reduced 4 euros).
In summary, with these events, Folkwang University not only contributes to the region's musical diversity, but also offers a platform to present the talents of its students. This impressively proves how classical and jazz, despite their differences, can merge harmoniously and create an inspiring evening for all guests.
