Exciting mathematics lecture: Prof. Sauermann about random patterns!

On July 2, 2025, the important mathematician Prof. Dr. Lisa Sauermann from the University of Bonn will give a lecture entitled “Rainbow circles and chance in combinatorics”. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and takes place in lecture hall S8 in the castle, Schlossplatz 2, in Münster. It is part of the public lecture series “Bridges in Mathematics” of the Cluster of Excellence “Mathematics Münster”. Loud uni-muenster.de The lecture series is organized by the Cluster of Excellence and has set itself the goal of connecting various mathematical areas with other sciences.

Participation in the lecture is free, but registration is required by June 27, 2025. Those interested can register at uni.ms/brueckenmathe. Following the lecture, there will be an offer of finger food and drinks to promote exchange between the participants and the speaker. Prof. Dr. Sauermann has received numerous awards for her outstanding achievements in combinatorics, including the Kaven Honorary Prize from the German Research Foundation.

Gauß Lecture: A highlight of mathematics

As part of the upcoming 42nd Gauß Lecture, Prof. Dr. Sauermann will also present the topic of probabilistic proof techniques in combinatorics. This lecture will take place at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU), although the exact date has not yet been announced. The focus on probabilistic methods is a central element in modern combinatorics and could open new perspectives on well-known problems. Information about this is available at nat.fau.de.

Prof. Dr. Lisa Sauermann has earned an international reputation through her research work at renowned institutions such as Stanford University, the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Her expertise in combinatorics is evident not only in her research, but also in her ability to make complex mathematical concepts accessible to a wide audience.

The lectures as part of “Bridges in Mathematics” not only offer a deep insight into current research topics, but also promote interdisciplinary exchange between different scientific disciplines and mathematics.
