Chemnitz University of Technology is thrilled: KI-Bild is on the shortlist for the PR-Bild Award 2025!
Jacob Müller from the press office and cross-media editorial team TU Chemnitz has achieved a place on the shortlist of the “PR-Image Award 2025” with his picture “HOME – a silent scream under water”. The image, created using artificial intelligence (AI), addresses environmental degradation and shows a swimming sea turtle surrounded by plastic waste.
Voting for the PR-Bild Award 2025 has already begun and will run until September 24, 2025. The public is invited to www.pr-bild-award.de to vote for their favorites in five categories. This year there are 35 images on the shortlist from over 600 entries submitted by more than 160 companies, organizations and PR agencies from Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
A new type of competition format
The jury, which consists of 16 members from the media and communications industry, selected the images. New this year is the “AI Content” category, which was created specifically for AI-generated images. This development demonstrates the growing interest in the intersection of technology and art, a topic that is becoming increasingly relevant in today's media landscape. AI offers artists new opportunities to create innovative works and changes their understanding of art.
Jacob Müller expressed his delight at his nomination and hopes to receive numerous votes for his picture. His work is seen not only as artistic expression, but also as a call to engage with current environmental issues.
The role of AI in art
The integration of artificial intelligence into art opens up diverse perspectives. In addition to using AI as a creative partner, artists are also using technologies like language understanding and machine learning to create new forms of art that they would not have been able to create without these tools. Ethical questions about authenticity and originality are also raised.
While the topic of microplastics is being researched at Chemnitz University of Technology, especially at the Chair of Plastics Technology, the Chair of Business Administration - Corporate Environmental Economics and Sustainability is intensively involved in topics such as waste avoidance and recycling. This interdisciplinary discussion is an example of how science and art come together to address social challenges.
Eldi Nazifi, Managing Director of news aktuell (Schweiz) AG, emphasizes the diversity and originality of the submissions. The winning images of the PR-Bild Awards 2025 will be announced in November and are likely to cause a stir again.
