Inventor fair makers united: Chemnitz is transformed into a technology hotbed!

The “makers united” tinkering fair in Chemnitz is just around the corner. On June 21st and 22nd, 2025, the hands-on and technology festival offers exciting insights into the world of natural sciences and technology. The aim is to inspire children and young people in particular to study subjects in these areas. Organizers include: TU Chemnitz, the Maker e. V. and the Industrial Association of Saxony 1828 e. v.

The event takes place in the town hall and in the adjacent park and is supported by over 100 exhibitors from southwest Saxony and beyond. Over 120 hands-on activities are available to visitors, including interactive presentations and unusual projects from the maker scene.

Diverse offers for all age groups

Participants can look forward to around 150 experimental options. Participation activities are expected not only from Saxon universities and companies, but also from international participants. Makers from Europe, Africa and Asia are represented, including around 50 makers from countries such as Japan and Singapore. Particularly noteworthy is the participation of actors from the partner cultural capital Nova Gorica.

The faculties of Chemnitz University of Technology are strongly integrated into the program. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering is represented by four professorships and offers, among other things, the construction of mini circular knitting machines and the construction of a hydrogen-powered model car. The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology will also be actively involved with a soldering workshop and the production of a “shake cube”.

Opening and attractive leisure activities

The opening of “makers united” will take place on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Stadthallenpark. The festival opens with a discussion panel led by two-time moderator Thor Lohse. For the very young visitors there is also a lecture from the children's university with the moderator Simón Albers, who explains everyday psychology in an entertaining way. Admission to both events is free.

In addition, festival visitors can experience extraordinary attractions such as interactive robotic animals, balancing robots and robot dogs. The latest technologies and creative innovations create an inspiring atmosphere for all ages. The aim of the event is to focus on the fun of tinkering and discovering, while at the same time providing deeper insights into technical and scientific content.

Overall, “makers united” promises to be an exciting weekend full of experiences and the latest technologies. Early registration and visits are recommended in order to make the most of the wide range of offers. Current information is also available on the website Maker Festival accessible.
