Art and Climate: Seminar shows new perspectives on the crisis!

The Bauhaus University Weimar will actively participate in the Erasmus Days in 2025 to increase awareness of the diverse opportunities for internationalization. This includes not only students, but also technical and administrative employees as well as researchers and teachers, all of whom can benefit from a stay abroad. Benefits include developing professional skills, establishing new networks and gaining fresh perspectives.

As part of this initiative, the university is hosting an information event on Tuesday, October 14th. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., an information stand will be set up on the ground floor of the Mensa am Park, organized by the BAUHAUS4EU university alliance and the German Institute for Standardization (DIB). During the event, interested parties can ask questions and find out about the programs and grants that are part of the Erasmus+ program.

Webinars on BAUHAUS4EU

On Thursday, October 16th, webinars entitled “Get to know BAUHAUS4EU” offer the opportunity to take a closer look at the project content and the long-term structures of the university. These short sessions of 20 minutes each are aimed at different target groups: employees from teaching and research are invited at 1.30 p.m., followed by employees from technology and administration at 2 p.m. and students and doctoral candidates at 2.30 p.m. The webinars offer a comprehensive look at the individual importance of the program and its possibilities.

Anyone interested can contact Lena-Marie Euba by email at lena-marie.euba@uni-weimar.de for further information and questions about participation. BAUHAUS4EU is a project funded by the European Union, which is also anchored in the current Erasmus+ program. The program guide, which provides detailed information about funding and eligibility requirements, is available in 24 languages and is primarily made available to organizations and institutions wishing to apply for funding.

The context of art and ecology

In addition to the Erasmus Days, a seminar on the role of art in the context of the climate crisis is being offered at the Bauhaus University. Various aesthetic approaches to dealing with ecological issues are discussed here. Participants will develop a comprehensive understanding of aesthetic strategies used by contemporary artists and learn how these can be used in relation to environmental issues.

The seminar consists of three basic parts: a theoretical discussion of relevant texts, the connection of these theories with artistic practices through the students' presentations and the realization of their own artistic projects during the "Open Atelier". This mandatory program is aimed at students in the fields of architecture, interior design or landscape architecture at bachelor's or master's level and has a registration deadline of November 2nd, 2025.

These activities at the Bauhaus University Weimar not only increase international awareness, but also contribute to a deep understanding of current ecological challenges by highlighting the important connection between art and the environment.
