Teaching in transition: Teaching Day 2025 brings fresh ideas to Vechta!
This year's Teaching Day 2025 at the University of Vechta will take place on November 26, 2025 under the title "Study. Campus. Commitment - Teaching in Change?" instead of. The “More Open Educational Resources and Practices in Vechta” (MOin) project is organizing this important conference, which aims to strengthen the visibility of good teaching and create space for innovative ideas. A call for papers was opened to collect contributions from university members.
The event will provide an open forum for teachers, students, academic staff, service facilities and university management. A keynote speech on current issues relating to studying and teaching, workshops and tutorials to test concepts and methods, as well as a poster session for project ideas, digital tools and new teaching formats are planned. A special highlight will be the “Market of Opportunities”, which presents institutions with services related to studying, as well as a panel discussion on the topic “Let’s talk about – teaching, openness, commitment”.
Post formats and deadlines
Contributions can be submitted in various formats, including poster and demo contributions, workshops or tutorials lasting 60 to 120 minutes, and short lectures of 10 to 15 minutes. The deadline for submission of contributions is October 31, 2025, with feedback on the submitted contributions by November 5, 2025. Participation without your own contribution is also possible, which underlines the inclusivity of the event.
A central aspect of the event is the promotion of open educational resources ( OER ), which enable flexible exchange of teaching and learning materials at universities. OER can not only promote equal opportunities, but also accelerate innovation in teaching. Institutions like TU Delft in the Netherlands have shown that a systematic commitment to openness and networking can make lasting differences in the education sector.
Guide to promoting OER
The German UNESCO Commission e. V. has published a guide on Open Educational Resources in higher education that provides recommendations for promoting OER. This publication is aimed at politicians, universities, teachers and students and offers valuable insights into the best practices of open education. It is available under the CC BY 4.0 license and was created in collaboration with leading experts in this field. The maintenance and development of this guide demonstrates the ongoing commitment to promoting OER across institutional boundaries.
The organization team is available to answer any questions you may have about the event or to submit contributions. This initiative is an example of how universities can promote the exchange of knowledge and resources and thus contribute to the further development of teaching.
